SC DISTRICT AWARDS GUIDELINES FOR 2019 – 2020

A.     Individual Awards

1.     Area Civitan of The Year

2.     Outstanding First Year Civitan (joined since  4/1/18)

3.     Club Officer of The Year

4.     District Honor Key

     Guidelines for Individual Awards

You become eligible for one of these individual awards when the Awards Committee hears about this person from the following sources:

a.     Someone nominates you by sending a one or 2 page letter or email describing your qualifications to the Awards Committee.  Photos are useful but not required.

 b.     The Area Director has mentioned to the Awards Committee this person was most deserving. The Area Director can also be considered  for the any of these awards if that person has had a letter nominating him/her as a outstanding Area Director.

 

5.     Otis Jeffcoat Award

 Outstanding contributions to the District for 5 or more years. This person has served as a club or district officer and has never previously received this award.

6.     The John Doudoukjian Award

 One is eligible for this award when the Awards Committee hears about you from one of the following:

a.     Someone nominates you by sending a one or two page letter or email to the Awards Committee stating why you are deserving of this award.

b.     You must have been a member of SC District Civitan for 20 years or more and have shown extraordinary service to the club and/or SC District and have never previously received this award.

 7.     Best Recruiter Award

This award is for the person in the SC District who has brought in the most members in this Civitan Year according to Civitan International Records.

 8.     SC District Civitan Of The Year

 This award will be chosen from the nominees for Club Officer of the Year Award by the Awards Committee and the SC Governor.

B.     Club Awards

1.     Outstanding Website/Facebook or any other social media sites

Your club becomes eligible for this award when the Awards Committee is notified about your website/facebook site name or name of the other social media site. All should be made available for the committee to view, so a judgement can be made. 

2.     Outstanding Newsletter

Your club has sent a copy of your newsletter via snail mail or email to the Awards Chairperson – Katie Lockman, 1170 Woodburn Road, Spartanburg, SC 29302 email address:  lockman.katherine@yahoo.com

3.     Membership Growth Award

Award goes to the existing club which has added on the most members to their roster. This information comes from Civitan International records.

4.     Membership Retention Award

Award goes to the club who has deleted the fewest members this Civitan year (tie goes to the club with the largest membership). This information also comes from Civitan International records.

5.     Fruitcake Award

To be determined by the Fruitcake Chairperson.

6.     Candy/Coin Box Award

To be determined by the Candy/Coin Box Chairperson.

7.     Outstanding Overall Service to Community
showing projects, dates of each project and number of members who took part in each project.

8.     Outstanding Single Community Project
showing projects, dates of each project and number of members who took part in each project.

9.     Outstanding Overall Service to Youth
showing projects, dates of each project and number of members who took part in each project.

 Guidelines for Awards 7 through 9

Your club becomes eligible for these awards when the Awards Committee learns about your club’s activities by way of someone from your club or someone on your club’s behalf has sent in a review of these items presenting your club activities to the Awards Committee.  This can be done via e-mail, in the form of a booklet, or small scrapbook with pictures giving a small description of each project, or can be mailed to the Award Chairperson.

10.               Governor’s Trophy

 Best club in the SC Civitan District this year based upon club management, membership development, district involvement, educational programs, financial support and service.

Your club becomes eligible for this award when the Awards Committee hears about your club from one of the following sources:

a.     Club newsletter, website, facebook or social media.

b.     Club booklet, scrapbook giving all over review of the projects.

c.      Your club or someone on your club’s behalf has sent an Honor club form or Shropshire Oustanding Club form to the Awards Committee which outlines your club’s activities over this Civitan Year. Click here to download Honor Club Application. Click here for Shropshire Outsatanding Club form.

C.     Servant's Heart Award

The SC Civitan District will honor a deserving citizen with the Civitan International Servant's Heart Award at the annual convention if at least one appropriate nomination is received. The award is presented by South Carolina Civitan clubs in recognition of outstanding service to people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) in South Carolina.

A South Carolina Club or Civitan nominates an individual (Civitan membership is not required) by sending a letter or email describing the nominee's qualifications and service to those with I/DD to the Awards Committee.

The Servant's Heart Award is a multi-disciplinary award recognizing outstanding teachers, therapists, paraprofessionals, social workers, mentors or others working with individuals with I/DD.

WHEN??  HOW??  WHERE??

All awards material should be submitted by way of email no later than August 1, 2022.  If using snail mail, please try to send for delivery by August 1, 2022. Send by email to be sure your nomination is received timely.   Please send all materials and inquiries to:
